PONGAL CELEBRATION - 2026
The Pongal Celebration Day was held on 13th January 2026 with great enthusiasm and cultural fervor. The entire campus was beautifully decorated with kolam (Rangoli), sugarcane, flowers, and traditional motifs, creating a festive atmosphere that highlighted the essence of Tamil culture and the harvest season. One of the main highlight of the program was the Vallikkummi dance performed by the girl students. The dancers dressed in traditional costumes, rhythmically clapped their hands while singing traditional folk songs. The graceful movements and energetic performance beautifully showcased Tamil folk culture and received loud applause from the audience. Another major attraction of the celebration was the preparation of the traditional sweet dish “Sakkarai Pongal”. Students and teachers gathered around the clay pot as the rice, milk, and jaggery were boiled together. Everyone cheered “Pongalo Pongal” as the dish boiled over, symbolizing prosperity and abundance for the coming year. Pongal preparation competition was held between students of each batch. Results were announced based on taste and the first cooked Pongal. Various cultural performances, including folk dances and songs, depicting village life and farming traditions, added color and vibrancy to the event. A Rangoli contest were also organized, encouraging students to showcase their creativity and artistic skills. The distribution of Pongal to all participants spreads joy and togetherness. The event successfully brought out the spirit of unity, cultural pride, and appreciation for traditional customs. The Pongal Day Celebration was a memorable and meaningful event that helped students connect with their cultural roots while fostering a sense of community.
